Nitrate Levels To High

If you look at THIS thread, the MRS and i had exactly the same problem, but we`ve overcome it now and our tank is blossoming,,,,,

Its a long read but i hope some of our troubles can help you
we had over 100 ppm of nitrate and now were at 10 ish

so don`t fear irt can be done

Thanks BigIan! Wow what a interesting tread! I downloaded it cause there is so much useful info! I realized that the tank was neglected - I bought the tank 2nd hand. I didn't realize it was such an issue at the time, but I do now. I'm leaving work early today and I'm rushing to catch my LFS open so that I can buy more RO water. So tonight I will get rid of the undergravel filter (which might hide horrors ) and do a water change. Due to lack of funds I can unfortunately not do anything more till pay day.

Hopefully all will be ok till then...fingers crossed.
