hi everyone not sure if anyone has experience with these but i've seen these newts in my lfs called rock newts and cant find any info on them online, the ones ive seen look about 4 inches and it says on the label, rock newts (red spotted) and they have like paddle kind of tails

in the shop they dont appear to have any platforms for air or anything but i dunno if they are completely aquatic or not if they need a dry platform how do u suggest i make one?

i would also like to know what fish would b suitable to keep with one of these (the tank is 20 gallons) i currently have 2 albino cory and one wagtail platy would any of these need to b taken out?

i presume fish which aren't predatory and not too big, not too small would b ideal, bristlenose plec? mayb sum tetra? a betta? also would an african dwarf frog b ok too?

these are individual ideas of course not all at once lol and any help on these particular fish and any other suggestions would b really gratefully accepted

sorry about the long post and thanks in advance for any help

lol sorry i'm quite new to newts, lol was thinking this might b a bit to general a description, i'm pretty sure its the type that nelly posted actually

ok well i did my research on these then went into the shop today it looks like the picture posted however much darker in colour however some in the shop looked pretty much the same colour so i presume that this is a normal thing

spoke to the bloke there about them anyway, apparently these ones grow significantly larger than normal ones and eat small fish (luckily not a problem in my tank, smallest fish in there are albino cory bigger than its mouth) the man in the shop said they don't need any land to rest on however i have a small island of wood just in case but he hasnt touched it and just swims to the surface for air like i was told. he seems to be settling in well and i cut up some earthworm which he ate so no worries on the eating front tommorrow i'm gonna buy sum bloodworm, just wondering if anyone has any advice for me? also would it be advisable to get another to keep him company? any other food options?

thanks again for the help
