how did you clean the sand? and also what happened to your gold fish? did you find new homes for them?

I gave the goldfish away to someone with a pond.

To clean the sand, I put it in the bath and blasted it with the cold tap. Swished it round, pushed the sand to the back of the bath and then let the water out.

It cleaned really easily using this method. Once it was in the tank I syponed water back in to minimise disturbance of the sand. It worked great! The fish were able to go in straight away.

Oh while I was doing it I had my filter running in the bigger tank and I put the tank water in the bath, so it was half old and half new going back into the tank.
