Hello I have just bought a tetra 60litre tank which has been running for three weeks. Last saturday we placed 5 black phantoms and so far so good. what would you recommend for my next few fish. I really like dwarf gouramis and guppies. Any advice??

Guppies can be quite sensitive and prefer a more mature tank, so I'd wait a little while before adding those.
Dwarf Gourami are prone to bacterial infection, so why not consider Honey Gourami instead? They are a lot hardier, great community fish and pretty colourful.
Glowlight Tetras are also another hardy little fish and would be fine in that size tank.

If the filters weren't established before you added the black phantoms then I would wait a month before you add any more fish. If you start adding more fish and the filters are not yet fully established, then you could have some ammonia or nitrite problems that could kill all the fish.

As to what fish you should choose, have a look at the petshop and get some fish books out from the library. Then pick some fish that you like and post them on here. We can advise what will get along together.

Thanks for the advice guys. Off to the petshop today for some more information and defo take a look at the honey gouramis. Will let you know. My filters had been running for three weeks and i added my black phantoms last saturday, not sure whether this is what you would call established or not, as new to this! I was advised in the petshop to add fish weekly and not put them all in together.

petshops talk rubbish, most of them want your fish to die so you buy more.

An established filter is one that has been running on a tank with fish in for a month or more. Or a filter that has been running in a tank for about a month while liquid ammonia has been added each day and this has allowed the good bacteria to develop.
If you have a filter running on a tank for a couple of weeks and there were no fish in the tank, or nothing was added to provide a food source for the good bacteria, then the filter won't be established and it will start cycling when the fish are added. Since you added some fish about a week ago I would leave the tank to run for the next month and not add any fish until after that time.
During the next month you should monitor the ammonia and nitrite levels in the tank water and do regular partial (30-50%) water changes to keep these levels below 1ppm.
Only feed the fish once every couple of days and this will help to keep the ammonia levels lower.

Going to leave it a few more weeks then buy some guppies, as for feeding the phantoms seem so hungry and go made for the food when i put some in and have been feeding them once a day!
