Hi
I live in Sunderland, all the shops local to me only sell VT.
I have some homebred HM males for sale if your interested, you can also come and view.
I dont have any females left though :)

hi thanks for the info peter barrats do not get females in stock now and they only seem to have half dead Vt :( best place i have seen is aqualand near blaydon were they have some very nice male crowntails and they said they could get some females if i wanted...

i may take a trip to sunderland if you have any more breeding :D i would love some nice healthy specamins :D

Peter Barrats normally have females in the tanks in the middle where the plants are.

Beta Aquaria in Byker is nice good quality however I think most are VT and Tyne Valley Aquatics in Mickley (near Prudhoe) is very good as well. Mostly VT male although they do get different ones in, and they do stock girls and they are normally really pretty ones too.

Beta almost always have bettas in stock, Tyne Valley sometimes have them in stock. However Tyne Valley's are nicer colours.

Can't say I've been to Aqualand...I'll have to investigate.

I'd also say Pets at Home Gateshead sometimes get some brilliant females in.

Thanks for the info :) ideal I would like something other than vt female as I want to try and breed them eventually :) Aqualand is a gd shop full of gd advice ect helped me a lot :) when I asked the lady in beta if they have anything other than vt females she answered what do you mean and oh no idea :(

After seeing photos here I quiet like the crown tails :)

The staff in Beta are quite unhelpful - you get one lady who is quite helpful she's just never in when I go in. Basically if you ignore the staff then it's a good shop lol.

Tyne Valley are good; they are helpful as well and can offer phone advice too :) - they get a rarer selection of fish in.

Edit: Just googled Aqualand, I might have a visit but I did go once a few years ago and the shop was dirty, the tanks were dirty and the fish were not very healthy and lots of dead fish. Next time I’m around I’ll call in but I won’t make a special visit I don’t think.

The guy at Aqualand used to supply a lot of pet shops ect till they got moved out of the units they had near Newcastle about 3 years ago and decided to take up retail when I went they had clean tanks and a large selection ( even crown tails ) but only male and other fish also and lots of marine also. There is a new shop near te race course (sells koi carp and now tropical) they have a selection of veils but mainly stock discus parrots ect.

Might be worth another trip then.

I went to the one next to the racecourse when it first started stocking tropicals and I wasn't impressed then lol.

Well they haven't got loads of tanks but they got the big stuff that few others stock round here :) how often do you breed your betta?

where abouts is aqualand?

beta aquaria had lots of colourful female bettas about a month ago but the stuff is not helpful i think... highley gate had male bettas last time i was there - very pretty but their fish stock looks even worse than peter baratts health wise...

never been to tyne valley... other than that pets at home but never seen females in there...

aqualand is in swalwell near the big fish and chip shop i nearly drove past it first time i went looking

There is a small pet shop in gosforth, just up from the regent centre. Has his tropicals at the back of the shop and I must say the the tanks are immaculate. I'm sure he had some betas in although having not dipped into the beta side yet, not sure of the types. I live in sunderland and buy my endlers from gosforth.

22 wansbeck road south is the address for gosforth pets. Forgot to put that on the post. Sorry lol

i liked the shop in gosforth n the fish i got from there is still happy, just stay away from the platys, they attach bettas lol at least they did in my case lmao
