Nice tank selection buddy!

My dream tank is a 225 gallon with stand.
Have a school of maybe 6 bala sharks and a few american cichlids.

They have it at an lfs around here for 5k$ canadian.

One day... one day...

Be prepared for some aggression and maybe some deathes if you plan on having a "community" tank and sbreeding cons. They will defend as much as 75% of the tank once they are protecting fry. Even cichlids larger than them will be forced to saty in a small section of that tank. With a 60gal tank there are plenty of choices for fish you can add. Cons are a great little fish but much to aggressive.

the tank might look alittle empty :/

maybe some jewels would look nice and are able to take the cons aggression

well it is 60 gal which is around 4 foot,( :dunno: )
so it might look a bit empty. unless you get the JD big. but jewels would look nice anyways

I saw an awsome tank at the lps it was a 90 or 120ga tall. I would look awsome to build a gaint slate cave wall agianst the back wall and have a whole bunch of africans in it. the tank and stand was like 1000+ US if i rember right. If only i had money LOL!

Im not going to have a community tank it will be CONS ONLY. Also i know that they can be agressive thats why there will be 2 sets of large caves on either side of the tank.

ViP and dawrf dude
there will be 4 cons in that tank with 2 large slate caves on either side i dont think that the tank will look all that empty with all that. I will also be adding some drift wood and very robust plants. I also might get a tank for a few JD's and like jewels later on.

Lots of talk about big tanks and money. FYI, my 110 gallon stand, tank, and lights cost me $150 cdn, second hand. Keep your eyes open, there are good deals out there.

yeah and then it costs u 3000$ in repairs becuase the person u bought it from didnt set it up properly. so it decided to burst.. i would onyl buy a second hand tank if i saw it was set up perfect, and/or i new the person who had it

So, good but bad news i had to go for the 46 gal tank instead of the 60 but i figure it will still work well, i might have to go with only a pair of cons now. ;)

On another note i got an awsome deal on a nice big piece of dirft wood and also i picked up my sand and slate to build caves today. :D

i dont think you have to get just 1 pair my tank is 55gal and i have a pair with 3 red belly pirahanas and i hardly have any problems unless i stick my hand in the tank and the pirahanas swim into the cons cave then the nip at each other but the pirahanas rather deal with my hand then the cons

i only stick my hand in to remove dead feeders that havent been eaten by my pleco
