Do you need anything for goldfish in ponds?

We're getting some for free on daturfdy and all we have is a pond with some cold water. Need any filters etc? Or dechlor water or cycling?

just a pond filter and thats about it. once its up and running it will contain itslef but you may want to go over it every few months provide plenty of plants preferably lillys

we have a larhe filter for our koi, costing about £1000. (thought you left?)

Do we need a filter as we're just plannign on pond weed and nature will do the water changes - evaporate and rian. Old me and kubara are mates now on msn we sorted it oiut. :good:

YES you will need a filter and they are not cheap.

haha, you think you are mates with him, LMAO LMAO

to clear things up, i mean goldfish can live without filters, providing there are lots of oxygenating pond weeds etc and the water is cleaned,
but for the long term survival and happiness of the fishes a cheap small filter, like a genie or something would do wonders for the goldfishes

how big is the pond. becuase a small one can still set you back £100 at least

you will need a filter. ours is about twice may be 3 times that size and we had to spend 1000 quid on a filter. you will need one or it will become full of algae in weeks. you will need one with a gd uv light.

had to laugh at you asking a question then when someone replied with the correct info you said there wrong lol.

to clear it up yes you do need a filter. for a pond that sort of size you should be fine with one of the cheap £100 pressure filters from the local pond place. you would probably want a uv as the water will turn pea soup green very quickly in the summer.

i wouldn't feed the goldfish now either. its starting to get cold now and they will be stressed from the move you also wont have any filter on the pond to clean ammonia the fish will produce and even if you did it woulndt mature fast enough due to the cold slowing the process down

edit: my Internet went offline so could ask this question

does that mean my tropical planted tank didn't need a filter? the substrate was about 70% planted so there was plenty of oxygen coming of the plants for the fish
