hi I'm new to the whole fish thing.
well right now I have a small feeder goldfish with bad fin rot. But I'm giving it daily salt dips and it seems to be recovering, the fin even looks bigger.
Anyway, since I only have a 10 gallon, I won't be able to keep this fish if it reaches its full size. And obvoisly if it dies from this bout with fin rot I won't be keeping it. So I'm looking into possible new fish pets.
I saw some little sharks in the pet store that only reach 5" that look pretty cool. Can anyone direct me to a care sheet or something about small sharks or any other cool fish that don't get big and are easy to care for?
Also, there's a pond near my house with sunnys that are pretty cool and seem hardy. Could I just catch one of them (not with a hook)? Could I feed it goldfish food, or would that be bad for it?
Thanks!!

Why do you think the fish is going to die - you're even making plans for when it does! :dunno:

Contrary to what TJ said I would not put a plec in that size of tank because it's too small for the waste they create, even the smaller ones. Also, there are not many catfish that would be happy in there.

A 5" shark would not be happy in a tank that small either. You will need to stick to small fish in a 10gall.

I would not recommend putting fish from a pond into a tank that size, especially coldwater fish. Coldwater fish tend to need big areas to live in.

Thanks for the info.
I know that a goldfish can't live forever in a 10 gallon becuase they just get too big. And plus I didn't really want a goldfish. Actually, I never planned to get a fish at all, my sister came home from a fair one day with this little goldfish along with parasite friend. So before I knew it I had it in my scorpions old cage, bought fishfood, filter and all that. So right now I'm hoping to get it better and then give it away and get something smaller.
