Malt, I only use fake plants so I can't answer your question. Plants in any tank are definately good.. whether they are real or fake.. but, comparing the 2 is out of my league! Sorry!

If by "my situation" you mean the betta and gourami scrapping, then probably not. Looks like there's already plenty of hiding area, and your fish are just "duking it out" to determine dominance.
