Newbie Ar620 Planted Tank

What sort of price would I be looking at then for a 90 litre tank and how would I go about doing etc.

Thanks sbs and Ian, its nice to feel like I'm actually learning something and stand a chance it getting somewhere with my tank! Just hope they survive!

That wood looks great and when the moss takes hold even better. Look forward to some pic updates.

Thanks LP. There are two pieces of mopani and one piece of bogwood that the moss is on. Looking for some roots of some sort too I think.

Nice tank mate, how many you got running now??

I love that Vallis, but I hate you for owning it :shout:

You can have some with pleasure mate. I'm down to four now as i have bunged the 4 Ellioti in one of my other tanks. Just driving myself mad wondering what to do with an empty 35 litre tank

Quick update, some of the HG has been disturbed and is now floating so i'm thinking this may be a bad idea to have it in the tank. Is there something suitable for ground coverage that won't be uprooted as easy? Unsure as to whether or not the moss has took to the bog wood, it's still tied on and looking green. Hopefully it will start to thrive soon. The crypts that i added after the advice from you on here have started to look even better and grow upwards rather than splaid out. Also hoping to be adding the Anubias Nana and the Jave Fern today.

Now for the bad news...

I seem to have some form of algae on some of the Vallis, any ideas what is causing this? Unfortunately the tank is situated near a window but the blinds are kept shut all day. Tank lights are limited to 8 hours a day most of the time and i'm not dosing any fertilisers. Thinking i don't have enough water movement which is something that i can't improve with the standard setup, so i may need to add a powerhead or another filter of some sort? Thinking something along the lines of something with a spray bar?

Thoughts and help very much welcomed!

Crypts filling out nicely:

Looking good mate, I don't understand how people get such good / quick grow rates with no co2 etc.

You using ferts yet?

Thats one thing I've never been had with, algae

No fertilizers. Rearranged my 180 last night so will be putting pictures up of that later on this evening. It's quite a change...

Here... http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/365884-fluval-vicenza-180/page__gopid__3056895 It's not my fault you don't look! :p

Unfortunately the 620 has suffered due to my 180 being setup as a planted tank. It's a bit of a mess as it stands and is in dire needs of a bit of attention. Not alot of plants left so i think i will have to treat it to some new ones.

It's not uncommon to get good growth rates without CO2. :D

I've seen this kind of algae in my vallis too. Of course, I kept it in non-CO2 system with no ferts, but it didn't grow quickly, so I just removed any offending leaves.

Thanks Liz. My tanks aren't using ferts or co2 and it grows like no tomorrow... :/

You could just grab a wave maker, might help and up the water changes before it gets worse.

Cheers steve. The 620 has unfortunately been broke down more or less of plants as I have concentrated my efforts on my 180 (see link)

At a bit of a crossroads with what to do with this tank. :look:
