Hi! I'm New here! I'm working on setting up a new 10 gallon aquarium. I want to have some mollies in it and possibly some angel fish. Can anyone give me some advice and kind of let me know what i'm getting into here. I dont want to get into this with my eyes closed you know? I'm not going to end up with like a million babies or anything if i have 4 or 5 mollies am I?

You just might. You could however try to get all one sex of the fish, but try to stay away from all males so there is no aggression.

If i were you, I would stay away from angel fish in such a small tank, unless of course you plan on upgrading in the VERY near future. Also some mollies have a tendency to nip fins, and angels just might have the right fins to get nipped.

I would try and stay with smaller fish in a small tank.

HTH & Good Luck,
Tiff

(I'm probably wrong according to someone though, and they will be along here shortly to tell me so.)

You'll end up with lots of fry with libvebearers, so find a store that'll buy or take them.

Angelfish can only be kept in tanks that are at least 30 gallons. Sorry. :/

Thanks alot!! I think i'm going to stick with just Mollies.. i can accomiadte the fly with a smaller tank that i am upgrading from.. I have a 55 gallon tank as well so maybe i should get an angel fish to put in there.

The 55 gallon tank would be perfect for angelfish but realize that any fish you put in with the angels must be large enough that they won't be eaten. That means staying away from neon tetras and guppies or anything else that only gets to be about an inch long. Also, set up the angel tank at least a month or two before the angels are put in. Angelfish have a tendency to be delicate and the longer the tank is established the easier it will be to take care of them.

With mollies you could possibly end up with a ton of babies. It depends on how many plants you have for the babies to hide in. I recommend at least having a few babies though, I don't think anyone can resist the cuteness of the tiny fishies. Try to have more female mollies than males as the males will compete and its easier if there are more than enough females to go around. Also it will reduce the stress on the females because they won't be constantly chased by males.

i'd suggest that you should not keep mollies, though they are like all livebearers extremely easy to breed but they are very disease prone, i'd suggest you get guppies or platies.

my mollies seem not to last. I suggest swords because i have had the same one for about 4 months and ne has never had any problems. If the other fish had a disease he never got it
