My first brackish tank, woohoo :D. I'm so afraid I'm going to kill it :look:
This 5.5 gal is temporary for the little guy until I sell the last of my betta spawn and the growout tank frees up so I can move some fish and free up a 10 gallon for him (and then maybe get him a friend,) but as you can see by the fact that he's all of 1" long, it's fine for now. I picked him up off of Aquabid after seeing them posted there months ago and wanting one ever since. Apparently he packs a powerful sting... tiny, cute, and dangerous, I like it! ^_^
Here's some good info on them for those interested.

The tank... couldn't find any good info about the natural habitat of these guys, so I had to improvise when it came to decorations. It needs a good fake plant or something. Fishy acclimating

Released from the bag a few hours ago... "Woah, the current is strong here!"

He likes to hide, but is active. He's in a different hiding spot every time I peek in on him

Don't worry, it's bound to happen eventually with my luck!

Awwwww blesss him  ^_^ I want I want I want!!!! He's like a little mini lionfish! Mark my words, I will find one :shifty:

So cuuuute! I for one would have never suspected it's poisonous
Good luck with your first brackish tank/fish! :good:
Technically, being as it is part of the Scorpaeniformes Order, it will be venomous rather than posionous (where posionous refers to toxins delivered by being consumed, and venomous indicates the ability to deliver toxins in attack or defence without the need to first be eaten).

Looks a lovely fish though

ooo i was looking forward to seeing that lil fishy after you last posted about him, and now the moment has arrived! hes adorable  how big will he grow? are they rare?

nice .

whats the stats of your tank??
Fully cycled (cloned from another tank) with SG at ~1.013 and temp at 78 degrees F. pH.... 8-ish? Can't remember exactly, I tested it a couple of days ago.

They get 4" max, but 2.5" more likely. They're not rare apparently, considering how cheap they normally are, just not often seen in the hobby :)

oh! 1 of my lfs sells thes once and a while as butterfly goby.i would like 1 but wont get 1 any time soon really

Very cool little fish. So there are cool fish that can go in a 10 gal!! what sg do you keep it at?

That's a neat fish. A bit dangerous, but neat. I can actually see this one Synirr. :p

~1.013 :)

More pics! He's MUCH more active today, spending less time on the bottom (though still very much a bottom-dweller) and getting used to the tank. Still hasn't eaten, but there are plenty of things I haven't tried yet. So far he has refused frozen bloodworms and live grindal worms. I emailed the seller today and asked that he had been feeding them.

So tiny! ^_^

Good news, he chased down and gobbled up some frozen bloodworm today, so it looks like I don't have to worry about him eating after all :)
