And remember cycles take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks. It usually takes 3 to 4 weeks though, rarely reaching the 6 week mark.

alright wow didn't realize all that...

so plant cycle it is then which plants would you recommend?

the room the tank will be in gets a lot of sun not sure if that matters as it will have the light on the tank.

Definitely floater plants like frogbit or red root floaters. Also be sure to have some other plants like Amazon swords ir hornwort. Most all fast growing plants need to be planted into substrate, so be sure to have a nice deep layer of sand in the tank that is about 3-4". Other plants that may work is guppy grass or water sprite
