so excited, I got some ellioti a couple of months ago, I changed the substrate to sand and they started laying eggs. I now have hundreds of babies. Woohoo. How long before I should be concerned about them eating them. They are great parents so far. Pictures attached. 4 ft tank, just with one other bristle nose catfish. Most photos were too big to attach, they are all free swimming now 1 week old.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Most cichlids will care for their young for 2-4 weeks, at which time the fry start to explore and go off on their own. You can move the young out when they are 3-4 weeks old or when the parents lay eggs again.

If the images are too big, set your camera's resolution to 2MB and the images should fit on the forum :)

Agreed. I've experienced them to be great parents, until they breed again, then all bets are off.

I have a 90l tank cycling so hopefully they are good untill that one is ready. My Bolivian Rams have wrigglers now in my community tank. Hopefully they don’t get eaten
