hello,

i have been keeping tropical fish for a while so i am not new to aquaria, however, i will be helping a friend set up a tank for her son and i suggested to her dwarf frogs for him (i figured they would be so girly...)

Well she want to get a 10 gallon, i may try and encourage her to get a 20 gal. But for now its a 10 gallon she want. I will explain to her about the cycling process, water changes, ect. and will give her some of my filter media to jumpstart her tank.

She will probably try and stock with a few fish and some frogs so i need to know:

what is a good stocking suggestion with how many frogs and what fish are compatable? (maybe one betta?)

What water parameters do the frogs prefer? (i have pretty hard, alki waters)

What do they eat?

What temperature do they do well in?

are these decently hardy, longlived creatures?

Any info will help! thanks in advance. Im headin to bed and will check back tomorrow!

ADFs definately sound like a good choice  we have two in a 10 gallon with a Betta and they get along just fine. They are quite peaceful and work well in almost any peaceful community tank also.

Ours seem to prefer sand substrate and get a meal of blood worms and Brine shrimp every other day. It can be a little of a challenge to feed them when there alot of other hungry fish in the area however because they are fairly slow eaters.

thank you for the information! Male bettas can get along with frogs then? (i understand about the slow eaters...i have a female betta in a community tank with 5 piggy harlequin rasboras....its so hard to make sure she gets food. Everytime she goes for it, a rasbora is in her face in an instant and boom...food is gone...leaving her quite confused...haha)

That link didnt show...

any other info would be appreciated....or other links.

Thank you again!
