New To Cichlids

Yeah, getting a bigger tank is always more fun than rehoming a fish you love. 
In case you can't, look into zebra loaches. They look very similar to yoyos but stay smaller.

that's actually what I wanted to get, but this is what they had...  and I was assured they'd eat up some mts

In the near future, I may get my hands on a 55 gallon, provided I do, that's big enough to put some other dwarf cichlids in right?  And if I do I'm considering 5-6 cherry barbs, never had any before.  They'd be a good choice right?  There's also a 40 gallon long that I was looking into as well, not sure which I'll end up with.
