New to Aquariums! Is my planned tropical tank good + tips and tricks (Angelfish, Gourami)

Guppies and platies, yes. Neon tetras, no. They are soft water fish.

If you mix your tap water with RO, you could keep neons, but not guppies or platies.

I see, is there any kind of harder water tetras or danios I could get instead?

I was looking at White Cloud Mountain Minnows, are they a better option? They are hardier than neons but still maintain the colourful looks

The tank size is the second issue here, and a 64 liter (roughly 15 gallon) is very little space3. Platies should really have a 20g which is 60 cm (24 inches) in length. So that is pushing things here.

The tank I want to get is 61 Length x 44 height x 33 width. Would this be too small? If was only to get 2? Maybe if I went down to 1?

One or two of what, platies?

The dimensions indicate a basic (high) 20g tank, and that will handle three or four platies and the guppies.

Hmm, that’s strange because those are the dimensions but the product page advertises it as a 64 Litre tank... on a volume calculator site it calculates them dimensions for an 88 Litre tank... strange, here is the store page in question, I think I must be missing something.

For whatever reason the link would not work. But the dimensions you gave (assume they are in cm) are very close to the basic (high) 20g tank. i think it is 22 US gallons. Which is 83 liters.

The tank dimensions probably include the lid in the height so the 88 litres is the volume of the tank plus the volume of the lid. You could visit P&H with a tape measure to check ;)

But regardless of the actual volume, it is the footprint of the tank which is more important, and this tank has 61 cm/24 inches swimming room.
