New to angels- should I?

thnx 4 that friendly advice, ive just set up the spare tank ready to put them in, it will be just them and a breeding net full of molly fry, Thnx 4 the adbice. Its weird that so many other peoples bettas male & females dnt get on and mine actually do. I think ive got a one of a kind male betta!

:D no probs. there is deffinately a clique element to this forum. if you are new then you arent made to feel very welcome, and any opinions you have are practically trodden on.
i dont give my opinion very often because of this and tend to use another forum, coming in now and again to read up on advice, which if im not mistaken is what this forum is for.
im sad at the way you were treated.
no doubt i will be targeted now but i dont care, i give my opinion and thats that.

I would say to remove the silver dollar and the male betta, and you will be fine. Just sell the silver dollar to an LFS and just put the male in a small tank. Although it may seem fine now, eventually you will wake up to a tank with a dead female betta, dead gourami or dead male guppy.

Yes i totally agree its the people that are very narrowminded and cant accept other peoples differences and opinions which bugs me about alotta the people in here, But there are afew nice people that are willing to help others in a friendly manor and listen to their view. Thanks very much for ure advice once agen. David- I have already sed that my male betta gets on fine with all the other fish and that he has been living with the others 4 a year now and is fine thankyou

I would remove the angelfish SD and male betta you are VERY OVERSTOCKED do you not realise you should have at least a ten gallon for 2 dwarf gouramis so lets say he needs 5 gallons alone .... sailfins get 2 1/2-3 inches AVERAGE your guppies need about a gallon of water a peace but it is not smart to "calculate" how much room your fish need you are overstacked period and That is as bad as not caring for your fish .....wait it is sorry but you need 2 or 3 more tanks

how long have you been keeping fish?

i no the question wasnt 4 me, but i thought id let evry1 else no that ive been keepin fish 4 10 years and i ahvnt incured any problems with overstocking etc

:D sorry the question was for you. i thought you had been keeping fish for a long time. i have had fish since i was 15. i have made mistakes along the way as most people have. the longer you keep fish then you know how much the boundaries can be pushed. i have always believed that the inch rule is more for beginners as they make the most mistakes. once again thats my opinion....

Well of course there are exceptions to every rule. If what you have works for you, Liam, then more power to you. :D All I am saying is that it was unwise to put the male betta in in the first place, and that problems may still arise in the future. Just because things seem fine now doesn't mean that they will always be so. I'm sorry if I came across to you in a negative, I did not mean it. I was only trying to help out.

I'm sure since this person has been keeping fish for 10 years probably has a ton of tanks (that are much larger) where the fish will be transferred when they get older. Am i right?

Yes thats exactly wot i wos tryin to say there are exceptions, and i will deffinately take wot u have sed in mind. I ll keep an eye on every1 in there and look out d=for any problems- at the first sign i will sort it out, thnx once agen

I do have friends that have larger tanks and I have asked them in the future whether they will be able to house any of the larger fish.I have a main tank and another tank about 3/4 that size for any fish that need to go in there. Due to circumstances I am not able to have any more tanks than I have got.I no that I should have taken the size of some of the fish into consideration but the only fish that are large and will grow alot larger are my silver dollar & the Angels, unless I'm totally wrong I have stated what I have and shall do to correct this problem. Thankyou for evr1s help, i have gained the information that I need. In future I think I will use another forum tho - Thanks especially black angel for being understanding and helping me.

liam101,
that's too bad that you don't feel comfortable here. I find this forum to be very helpful and people always respond very quickly. I just think that the people on this forum really love fish in general and tend to prioritize the fish's well being and happiness over their human companions feelings. and sometimes the truth can be hard to hear and I understand that totally. I have a tank that is over stocked as well right now. But in my sig I made sure to add my intention for a future 55g so these passionate fish lovers know that I am considerate of my babies.
hope to see you here again and good luck with your tank!
gi

I am not enirely sure where that came from but be sure that you have a nice day, won't you.

Liam, I was trying to give you friendly advice but a lot of the time you were not acknowleding what I was saying and that is very irritating for someone who spent time trying to help you.

I don't care how long you have been keeping fish for, it's not down to length of time at all. It's about how well you keep them and how much you know. You could have been keeping a common goldfish in a bowl for all we know or you may not have kept angels before.

Also, you having a 'spare tank' is all well and good but you did not tell us of it, are we supposed to be telepathic? :/

How big is this spare tank? Unless it's 18" high and 36" long at least it's not going to be big enough.
