New Thread For Another Tank

Sweetie, dont worry about what anyone else thinks of your tanks, it what you like that matters, your doing a good job on limited resources, be proud of what you achieve :D

Okay, firstly I'd sort the main tank - play sand substrate (2.50 per 10kg from argos, or tesco do something similar for £1.00 for 10kg.)
Type java fern into ebay or just google it, look up the pic's then pop into your LFS to see if they have it - its pretty distinctive.

Main piece of bogwood centre, a clump of Java Fern either end (2 plants), break a terracotta pot in half and pop them either end leaving an open swimming area at the front of the tank. And then tinker to get it looking the way you want it - moving plants is alot easier with sand substrate than gravel.

Similar idea for the smaller tank, using the fake plants in a similar way. Thats how I'd do it, but that would be to my taste - most people will have a different one.

Edit:

And I second what minx says, don't change the tanks if you're happy with them - its what you like thats important. Theres some ideas above if you're not happy with them but its your tank ultimately.

I agree if you are happy with your tanks it dosn't matter what we think.
You might not like my tanks everybody different.

kK but i'll use the stuff recommended put i dnt like the symettrical sorta idea. I sued argos play sand for this tank as well. I haave played around and i think it looks beter now.
Heres my stocking ideas:
A male betta.
8 pygmy corys.
Some harlquins or somrhing simalir.
P.S I am know happy with my second tank but like you guys i hate it. The plants look crap as they brake off and they're brown. The ornaments are cheap and tacky and the natural coloured gravel mixed in with the old green and blue gravel looks awful.

i dont like the first tank but thats only because i prefere natural looking tanks, the second one looks nice

and a word of advise, keep all your old pieces of wood and rock
ive got a couple of KG of ocean rock in the garden left over from my mbuna keeping days, and tons of driftwood from the bearded dragons.
itl all come in extremely useful one day as you progress onto more adventorous fishkeeping

I av tons of ornaments leftover form when i went mad buying them and they all look horrible.
