So this morning my results were as follows with ammonia staying at that level since I topped up sunday morning

Its s 4ft x 2ft x 2ft tank 300 litres

this mornings readings were mg/L

Ammonia 7.3
Nitrite 110
Nitrate 110
Ph 7.0 usually 8.0

And now after a 50% water change are mg/L

Ph 7.5
Ammonia 2
Nitrite 1.6
Nitrate 110

So what Do I do now? Do I keep it at this until Ammonia drops to zero or top back up? Can someone just clarify how many Ml's of ammonia

Your goal is 4-5 ppm of ammonia. The calculator link at the top of the page can help estimate how many milliliters that will take, but different brands of ammonia vary in their concentration, so it takes some trial and error either way.

The way I estimated was to measure out a gallon of water and add ammonia with an eye dropper, stir it a bit, then test it, and if necessary add more, then multiply up to the tank volume. With my brand of ammonia it comes out to one eye dropper per gallon.

Just as a side note it's better to keep all your results in one topic, as it allows members to look at the history of the problem easier.

Anyhoo, looks like the 50% change did a good job bringing your ammonia down into a usable area.
I would now be tempted to put it back to 5ppm.

So working on the facts:

300L Tank
currently 2ppm Ammonia. (so you need an extra 3ppm)

Using the CALCULATOR at the bottom of that page we can enter those details.

300L, (desired level of 3ppm because thats the DIFFERENCE you want to make), and I'm going to have to assume you are using 9.5% ammonia solution, (but please check that!).
According to the calculator you should then add 9.47ml of Ammonia to your tank. (I'd go for 9ml rather than 10ml if you can't measure the decimal part)

Once again, add the ammonia, then leave the tank for an hour or so to thoroughly mix itself, then do another ammonia test and post the results here and we'll see how well we reached the target.

Yes the solution is 9.5 % :)

I will add the ammonia now and come back with the results later.Thank you for the help reall do appreciate it.

No problem at all. I'm actually really interested in this as well because of the fact that I am at around the same point as you in my fishless cycle, also on a 300L tank :)

Well ive only just hd chance to get on here to post results and the ammonia is now on 4 so that is looking alot better!!

So I take it I should now carry on and top up to 4-5ppm when ammonia hits zero yes?

Also is 30c an ok temp to cycle on? or is that too high?

All of the above sounds good :good:

4 is close enough for now, just check it each day and keep an eye for when it drops to zero.
30 deg. C is fine to cycle at, that works out at 86 deg. F, and it's usually recommended to be around the mid to high 80's. My tank too is sitting at 30 deg. C (and coincidentally also at 4ppm ammonia last time I checked!) :)
