I'm gonna get a new larger tank for my inverts, and was wondering how i go about this. I'm gonna use the same filter, but a different heater, but I'm not dure what to do regarding the sand and the rocks etc. should I move them too? i think i will but...

anything else I need to do? what about the glass of the new tank? I'm gonna make it, but I know how and have done it before, so that's ok. what about hte micro organisms and algae that they need? How do I prevent loss of any shrimps or snails or any ammonia or nitrite spikes?

if the filter has already been cycled simply add water to the new tank with the de-chlorinater and set it up, the well established bacteria in the filter should be able to handle the ammonia. However if you do notice a spike in ammonia immediately do a water change. I'm not very experienced so i may be wrong... Hope i've helped :good:

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I have read that inverts need a mature environment, not just a cycled tank. If that is true, you will want to move as much of the gravel and water as you can along with the filter. That will at least give you a chance to preserve the things we do not measure in our water. The nitrogen cycle is only one of many that go on in our waters but is the most important activity for most of our fish.
