New Tank

well I ask on here about the purigen as the guy at the LFS said just stick the purigen sachet in every 6 months, and they are on sale for £5, as opposed to the skimmers they had for around £30 for a tank my size(94 ltr), surely they'd want the £30 sale?

What they will work on is that the protein skimmer is a one off purchase. By getting you back into the shop at least every 6 months they believe you will be likely to spend more than just buying the purigen. This over a couple of years will work out more than the one off fee of a protein skimmer. In addition to this, if the product does not completely work for you, you are likely to go back in the interim with problems, that they can then sort out for you by selling you something else.

Ok..... been thinking this morning and I've got an unused 15ltr biorb with a 15w halogen light sitting around doing nothing. how much modification would I need to convert this into a refugium and would it be feesable? There is a filter chamber in the back of the tank that I'll be filling with LLR Should I add more LRR and Algeae to the biorb and would this be suitable to culturing copepods in?

Also if I do use this tank as a refugium it'll bump my total tank volume up to 110ltr. I know less is always better but would I be able to add another small fish with the additional 4 gallon the tank will provide or just leave it?

You can certainly use the Biorb for culturing copepods. It could be tricky to make it into a reforgium though... You have the light, but no holes or (more importantly) bulk-heads installed in the acrylic. To make it into a reforgium, you'd have to drill a hole in the biorb, towards the top. Getting a nice finish to a hole in a 15l Biorb though, considering it's made of acrylic, will be difficult. Getting a bulkhead to fit in there and make the hole and it's associated plumbing waterproof will the the trikyist part though. You'll somehow have to get a bulkhead to fit a curved surface, and I'm not sure if such divices exist.
