New Tank

i have just bought a tank and i am trying to clone it for my fry its a 8 gal, this is what i have done:
put water in the tank
put the water conditioner init
set up air pump and got oxygen thing
got a heater
put sand in from my other tank and ornaments and plants
is this right i getting filter tomorrow and i was going to clean my other filter off other tank and squeeze it into my new filter sponge. lol sorry about saying thing i have forgot the name of it

If you could add some of the media from the cycled filter to the new filter it would help. Do you plan on adding fish right away, fishless cycling, or what?

adding fish soon i got told to squeeze the bactaria into the other sponge from filter in new one and cut 1cm off the bottom of the sponge and put it in with the media of the new one. so would i be able to put fry in that when i do this? so have i done it right so far?
