i would say flowers sounds like a vase to me

That's a bit harsh! Not everyone has the luxury of 155G tanks.

tetra-man: Cardinals look great - good choice. Don't go overstocking though! Looking at the number of posts you've made - I guess you're up on the whole fishless cycling thing?

yh it was a bit harsh im only 14, cant offord big rios n trigons n stuff,
yeh im gonna cycle with fish i think as i dont know about fishless? :/
any ideas?

If you can do fishless, do it. It's quite easy. i got some ammonia from homebase (I'm based in the UK too), and although it took some patience I'm so glad I did it. I've had the tank set up a bit now, and all my water parameters have stayed excellent (infact my neons look as though they're mating already). Do a search from someone called rdd1952 - I used his method (add and wait) - it was really easy - seriously.

infact I think this is it:

Hi,

First thing I would do is read up on fishless cycles. There are pinned topics on here or use the search. It is much better to do it this way as it doesn't stress your fish and potentially they could die. I learnt from experience as I lost several fish, doing a cycle with them. I know better now though.

Second, be patience. This isn't a race. While your tank is cycling read up on your choosen fish, again look in here or google them.

Thirdly, to the very rude mark 7616, as previously said not everyone can start with a large tank. A small tank can look just as good as a large if it is properly looked after and not overstocked. If we all listened to comments like that no one would ever get started in fish keeping. If you don't have anything constructive to add, don't bother replying at all.

Good luck tetra-man2

Dude,

I have a 4g tank, so 9g is positively huge compared to that. I have no problems at all cos of the size, and it makes water changes easier! What you planning to do with the tank?

Sam

me? im planning on planting quite heavily and have bogwood in the midlle of tank, and black backround to show up cardinals colours, but do theyreally gorw 2 INCH?????????????

i was thinking of:

- 1 otto
- 1 cherry barb
- 5 cardinals
is this to much?
(i really want platys but there to big rite?)
i cant se a cardinal reaching 2inch!!

do cardinals really reach 2 inch? thats scary! lol if they d im not having them, do they?

the cherry barb on its own won't like it they need to be in around 5, so i don't reccommend you get them.

yes cardinals do grow 2 inches..... why's that a problem though

if you don't get cardinal's go for neon's maybe.......

otto's need to be in 3's i'd say.

hope that helps :good:

Thats a bit rude, we all have to start somewhere.

I think your tank will be lovely tetra-man2, I only started with a 68 litre - about 15 us gallons and I had to wait for that until I was 26! Lol.

Do the fishless cycle and everything will go fine follow the link given above - it is the one I am following for my new tank.

Plan carefully and it will be a joy to see :)

Sorry I cannot help on the size of cardinals though - try the fish index :)

thnaks every1, it was a bit rude seeming mark's tank is 9gallon and mine is 8gallon? (1 gallon difference!)

2inch is massive, i was worried coz they won have enough room, does anyone rate head and tail light tetras?

congratulations on your new tank. Firstly, i would definitely go for fishless cycle if possible, there are tons of topics on that and there are a couple inparticular which are great. Afraid i cant answer the question about head and tail tetras but im sure they are in the Fish Index.
