I am looking to get a 5 ft fish tank. But was looking at some prices. There is a lot of difference between standard glass tanks and the heavy duty glass tanks.
Do I need heavy duty. Is there much difference between the two to justify the raise in price?

Where are you putting the tank & what fish are you planning to keep?
Any five foot tank should be 10mm glass (unless its very shallow & narrow) but some locations & fish require a more substantial tank.
If you have kids I recommend Aqvastabil effectline tanks as the frame minimises knock risks.

ok I will go with heavy duty.If there is that much of a difference.

What are the relative specs?
5ftx12ft. prob 15 high

I meant glass thickness. That is a standard size ( assuming you mean 12"?) & checking with my LFS they do it with 10mm base & 6mm sides for about £60
The heavy duty one should be 10mm throughout and cost getting on for 50% more but might just have more strapping - do check.
