New Tank

finally got my tank! got the fluval uno 600 on special offer with stand its 14 UK gallons (i think that's about 16 US gallons).
this may sound like a really stupid question but the water is cloudy. the filter has been going about 24 hours now. is this normal? the gravel was thoroughly washed before it was put in the tank so i dont think it's that.
any ideas?

Yes, quite normal. Could be dust from the gravel or bacteria bloom. Not likely to be anything dangerous.

Hi Suzi, cloudy water is quite normal for a new set up, this should disapear wthin a few days.

no i got it from my lfs... everywhere i looked online either didnt delivery or charged a fortune!

the tank, stand, gravel, plants (real and fake) rocks and wood was all about £140... dunno if thats a bargain to anyone else but from what ive been pricing up from the places round here it is
im not sure what fish im going to have yet... thats still up for discussion with the boss (aka my boyfriend!). he wants some peppered corys and a plec of some sort... all i like is something a bit different and really colourful! so if anyone has any ideas im open for suggestions!
