Hi folks - my 260 litre set-up just finished; a couple of pieces of Mopani soaking prior to addition and that will be it. Not thinking of plants other than maybe floaters such as water lettuce as the dempseys I intend to keep like to dig!

Comments welcomed...

thanks LucyB, I'll figure that one out in time...I think someone posted a utube on here so I will check it out!

Tank now clear and in day 2 of fishless cycle; can't wait to stock it!

well done dbanner on finding dempseys; seems to be a distinct lack of them in my area - probably a few weeks before the tank is ready so hopefully things will change by then :)

I got my dempseys from maidenheads in Cardiff, south Wales. They are doing great with my Oscar, jewels and severum :)

A pair of dempseys are going to look really good in there. I like the simplicity of it. I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one that forgets to take the Q.C. stickers off ky heater.

well spotted!! have since done away with the slate as unhappy with the swimming space lost - I have a couple of bits coming from ebay to theme that corner of the tank, and a couple of bits of mopani soaking...not going to overdo it though. thanks for the comments folks! :)

Welcome to the forum. :)

If you click on the IMG code it will automatically copy it for you, then you just paste it into your thread here and it will show.

Check out Verminator89's journal in the new world section for further idea's should you need any. Just don't read the end... :(

Thanks for that Minnnt, got that figured after checking a utube link! As to the Verminator89 journal...what a loss...felt the same losing mine 20-odd years ago, which similarly happened out of the blue with an otherwise perfectly healthy-looking male 4yr old JD; it is a big loss, especially with such a character as I had!

My tank will have a dark theme; unlike Verminator89 I am not planning for plants, but am flexible with that...may add floaters for fodder. Will also use slate along with the river pebbles - will be updating the photo when I have it more as I want!
