Hi Guys,

Next year i am looking at starting a project with a new tank and stand which will be built by me and an experienced friend.

The dimensions 2m (w) * 1m (h) * 1m (d) , it will hold about 2000 litres of water, without rocks and plants, also i was thinking about the best filters, pumps and equipment for somthing of this size.

Does anyone have something set up or knowledge on this.

Also how many fish will be able to go into it approx?

What fish are planning to keep in it?
1m high is a hell of a deep tank to reach the bottom of (unless you're mr tickle?) and you will have trouble getting sufficient light to penetrate that deep if you're going for plants / reef
The glass will have to be pretty thick to cope with the extra pressure of a 1m (3'3") high tank. I would personally never go taller than 2' (60cm)
again, the filter setup will be dictated by what you're keeping, but it would be a good idea to have a large sump underneath a tank of that size for filtration

You need to have a chat with CFC on here, he has a massive tank.

Hi
Glass thickness for the bottom would be about 30mm, sides would be 20mm.
60 cm sounds about right now you mention it, i was thinking of flurecent tubes on top and sides.

Large sump sounds good, these are continuous are they not?

Any idea on heater ?
I was thinking of putting a sheet of polystyrene about 1-2 inch thick under the tank on the bespoke stand to help with heat, if i do sides too then i have to ditch the lighting on the sides but i could have lights on rear to make up for it.

FG

also forgot to mention.

it would be all tropical fish really, anything from tetras, mollies, guppies, forgot the other name, and of course any nicer rarer ones when possible or when i come accross them.

Ill do a member search now, will he mind me contacting him

Sounds an awful waste of a huge tank just to keep bread and butter community fish!

Where are you going to keep this monster tank?

Games room/ chill out room

this is the only fish i know at this moment, but started looking for rarer fish now online and will probably stock it with more lively and colorful fish with some nice plants and great rocks.

In regards to heaters, any one got any advice, it will need to be consistent and would probably have to go on the back OR have two smaller ones on the sides, is there any under gravel heaters ????

I have seen a huge tank journal on here, it also spoke about heating, undertank and everything, it might well be CFC, am not sure, it was so big somebody took pics from inside the tank. Its worth hunting for :good:

Glad you're considering making it a little lower than 3ft 3inches - I was just trying to imagine doing maintenance/resetting plants, etc. on the bottom in a tank like that, maybe with a snorkel...

Has anyone come accross acyrlic tanks, doing a bit of research and on biggerr tanks the company says they are better.

What do you all make of this?
