HI All,

Just got some new tank mates. 2 Black Widow Tetras - 1 of which is long finned, and 4 Dwarf Gourami.
Question is, did the Tetras bring a little something extra with them? - Namely Finrot. The long fin one, has a slightly 'frayed' top fin, and its left fin (technical terms I know) seems to be split, almost 70/30. He's a bit quick at the mo for pics, but I got a shot of another, who has something similar on his 'top' fin. Take a look:

Hard to spot, but it's about 1/2 a cm down from the top of the fin.

The new 'long-finned' Tetra's case is slightly worse, and looks a little different.

Any ideas?

That tank size is to small for black widow tetras need at least 20gal, plus the gourami might nip there fins.
Water stats would be good in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
More concerned about them two small white patches i can see on the fish does it look fluffy, if so its the beginning of columnaris.

They're not white patches, but just his scales reflecting the light - gues he's had a knock in the past.

All the stats are fine/normal. P.H is about 7.6

Ok, see how the fish goes for a few days, split fins can heal in good water quality, long finned fish are very prone to splits.
If they start to lose more of the fin and the edges get raggy you will need a bacterial med.

I see what you mean that ok, just saw these two what look like white small fluffy bits.
