I use to have a fresh water tank a long time ago but got out of the hobby after a disaster that killed my fish. Recently my room mate got some red belly's and it got me thinking about getting a tank going again. I'd like to start a 10g tank with a few Glow (Zebra) Danio's in it but I'm not sure what else to put in there besides maybe a Glass Shrimp or two. I would like to put a glass catfish in there to but I hear there hard to take care of. So any idea on what else I should have in there or any general advice would be appreciated. :good:

best advise is to grab a decent fish book from the local library :p

not sure how big 10gallons is (US/UK)

whats the measurements?

Glass cats need to be kept in shoals (of about 6) so possibly arent suited to your tank.

Corydoras cats would be ideal (C. Pygmaeous is great), or a bristlenose catfish.

Ottinculus also are great little catfish.

Khulie loaches, are very interesting...

But as you can see it really depends on your filtration/substrate and what you like!

I would say upgrade to a 20g then think of what you want in the tank.

2001-2002 I had a 10g and 20g US and all my fish died. I tried for a year and gave up. Tanks lost water, Did not pay attention to the last 3 fish, Tank filled with un cureable green alge. Then 3 years ago or so I tried again and look at me now.

6 Tanks with Fish/Shrimp/Snails/ Clams
1 Tank with Aquatic Clawed Frogs
1 Tank with 2 Anoles Lizards
1 tank with a Red Ear Slider Turtle

3.8L for every US 1 Gallon.

10 gal. = about 38L I think

Ya thats about right. I know about basic fish care and all that (PH LVL's, filters, heating.......). I just don't know much about which fish go well together and what will eat what. The Glow Danio's are $6 and I'd like them to be the main fish in the tank so I don't want to throw an eel in there that will eat 24 + bucks woth of Danios. :shout:

$6.00 for Zebra danios? thats a VERY high price, around here they are usually less than $1.00. you may want to shop around.

These are Glow Danio's Google it. There genetically enhanced There relay cool. :hyper: but ya that would be a very high price for Zebra danios.

i personally dont see anything cool about danios with what looks like hi-lighter ink in them, i despise glo danios. i suggest white cloud minnows or purple passion danios, zebra danios are also nice and breed very easily.

You will find on here that most people dotn beilve in hybridizing( sp?), or GM( Geneticly Modified) fish. I for one am not, im all for it!!!!!!!! I say get them, you could probably put 10 glowdanio's and a cory in a 10 gallon.

I don't see the problem with gloo danios, its when the fish are tortured to make them different colours, like tattoos and dying.

Exactly. Glo-Danio's are GM-ed when they are eggs, and their young will be born the same color as the adults.
