New Tank Diy?

I was wondering how many people have purchased a second hand tank and decided it could look better and done alterations or DIY?

When I purchased my bargin 4ft aquarium, It was just what I wanted apart from the colour..

So I got a pianter to sand the cabinet and hood down to bare wood, and repaint it + new door handles and it came back like this...

Yeah I got a cheap second hand tank and built the stand and hood for it. Tank cost me £40 and stand cost me around £60 so not bad for a £100. Although spent £450 on the or equipment and decor .. .. whoops

piper if you play your music loud (which most people do) I'd recommend that you move the speakers somewhere else because it could cause vibrations in the tank which could stress the fish out. But I DIY my tank stand for my 55g saved about 50 US dollars by doing it my self.

I'll have to say, the alterations you did, make the tank look a lot better, not only with it's surroundings, but it also brings out the color of the inhabitants. Great job!!!

I’m aware of that, but these are part of a surround sound system so only carry the frequencies of around human speech, very little low-level frequencies that would affect the fish. No music at all…..

I have hardly any time to watch TV any way.
