New Tank Cloudy Water

I am new to this forum. I have had a Biorb for about 6 years and have recently bought an Askoll Pure tank. Thought I would try sand in it this time. The sand was difficult to rinse but we did our best! The tank has been running for about 5 days and is still cloudy. Should I be adding food? or could it be that the sand is causing the cloudy water? Not sure what to do. The tank has no plants in as yet or fish.

You need to cycle the tank.

No, take a look at fishless cycling. And dont add fish

I had a lot of trouble with sand especially as I had clown loaches and they would roll around in the sand and move it to the back of the aquarium. The water was permanently coudy. In the end I reverted back to gravel.
