Hi all

Just had an email from my tank builder asking for the final choices and the next payment!

So the pictures below give you an idea of what ive chosen:

Its a 7ft tank btw so bigger than what’s in the pic -

Weird double hinged top of cabinet -

Yeah 7ft - I was pretty happy with the 5ft but ive made some livestock choices that are going to need a bigger tank.

Im not a fan of offloading fish onto the LFS when they get too big so this boy is going to need a bigger tank soon.

So 7ft is realistically the biggest i can go for. It’ll sit against the wall and be a nice feature.

It will also give me chance over the next 3 months to buy the kit that i wanted for the 5ft but didnt have chance as it all happened so quickly.
By then Ill have my ‘reef controller‘ in place and i can save up and buy -

Vortech Power heads to replace the cheaply Chinese ones i panic bought
Better, more programmable LED’S
Eheim 120 XLT (1700lph) so one of these and my Eheim 600
(The filter also heats the water)

I also want to do a planted tank. Nothing special like some of tanks ive seen on here. Just some of that Dwarf hair grass stuff all over with a mountain type effect of my rock with lots of tall plants at the back.

The sump will allow me to get all of the equipment out of the tank and makes live easier i think.
The little second cabinet will hold my controller and ‘bits and bobs’.
I could never decide what colour to go for with the cabinet then i saw this lady had the flower custom done on hers. I enquired and they will do my Japanese design for a reasonable price. I think this will be my last tank and lets be honest 7ft is more than enough for most fish unless your getting some really huge thing

Im really looking forward to it. I just need to break it to my dad that were going to have to take the bedroom window out to get it in!

On the off chance that you’re serious (I moved house three times taking a window out each time to get a high backed Queen Anne style Chesterfield chair into a room):pGave it away in the end to save hassle.
U.K. internal standard door frames (non bathroom) would be 24” or 605ish mm wide but with a door stop. If a tanks 24” or less it could be moved in by temporarily removing the door stop if reqd. That’s if its not part of the actual frame and has just been pinned on.

problem is to get into the bedroom there’s too many tight turns. So the only option is to take the window out and pass it through straight into the bedroom.

Ive seen it loads on Ultimate Reef where there were quite a few large tanks being built

Or im going to enquire in a couple of weeks when they cut the glass about getting it built on site.
