I have a communtiy tank for my 10g at the moment and realized to small and over crowded for the fish i have so i have a 15g that is almost done with the cycle. I will be switching my community fish there. I had a question about how many i should switch at one time and how long in between i should wait to switch the others there a total of 2 molly 2 platty and 4 otos that will be going into the 15. For my 10g i will be splitting it in half and putting my 2 bettas in there both males. I was wondering if there was any other fish that i could put in with the bettas? If i cant not biggy, is there maybe a algae eater or anything like that i could put with the bettas? PLease help out. Thanks for your time as well.

Amano shrimp work well with (most) bettas as they're a bit larger than cherry shrimp etc so are far less likely to be eaten. They will nibble on algae but also eat any scraps they find.

As for moving your fish over, a couple at a time over a few days would be ok. Always test water a day after adding fish to a new tank to check for an ammonia spike - if 0, add a couple more. If not, do a waterchange.

IMO Snails will be fine, its too small for an actually 'algae eater' as in a plec, shrimps may work of may be eaten

I knew it would be to small for plecs and such, what about 1 or 2 otos tho. i know at the store it says they only need 1+gallon?!?

No - they need much more room than this and are also shoaling fish, needing to be in groups of at least 4-6 and preferably more.

A divided 10g makes two 5g - really only suitable for a betta, maybe a few shrimp and snails.

Okay then the only shrimp i have found at reasonable price around be is ghost shrimp. the other shrimp are ranging from $11-$17 a piece which seems a crazy amount to me. How many ghost shrimp should i get per side?

Ghost shrimp could very well become a snack, they're a bit small.

Maybe get the tank set up, add one or two each side and see if the betta ignores them - you might get lucky and be able to add a few more.
