Well, after 2 years of not having a tank because of focusing on reptiles, I've started again. Not using anything flashy, just old kit. The tank is a basic juwel 24x12x12" tank with the fitted filter box ripped out because the pump on the filter had gone the sponges were wrecked. Got a Hydor crystal duo 2 filter that i had lying about I had spare sponges and ive put some active carbon in it, a nearly new heater thats been lying around and was only used for a couple of months anyways.

After being tested all params seem good and PH is 6.8 Nitrites and Nitrates are reading nil so i think im ready for fish but might wait till after my holidays in a couple weeks if i can wait that long...

Stocking ideas
Some kind of filter feeder shrimp possibly, need info?
5ish tiger barbs
3-4 Corydoras, albino or peppered
Possibly a few silver or marbelled hatchets?
2-3 Otocinclus or possibly a bristlenose i dont like keeping them in tanks this small but many people seem to without troubles
Crystal red shrimp, i find the numbers of these doesnt matter as they seem to multiply pretty rapidly

Any ideas on stocking or info on filter shrimp?
Also would tiger barbs eat or try to eat the crystal reds?

James :)

sounds ok to me , 1 thing i would add about the tiger barbs tho is the bigger the group the less trouble they will be. if you are limited for space take a look at pentazona barbs. very similar to tiger in appearance but much more peaceful , and imo would limit your other stocking options much less than the tigers.

Today i went out and bought myself 5 tiger barbs, they are unbelievably hard to take pictures of, I need a tripod

I got this reply after having already bought the tigers, thanks anyways :) I'm not particularly limited on space, i dont want to stock the tank very highly anyways.

I may have decided against the crystal reds as the ones they have in the LFS are grade A's and are 5 for £28, i dont fancy spending that on little shrimp no matter how great they are, so im thinking maybe amano or pinnochio's, they also have bee shrimp, mini orange shrimp and bamboo shrimp which are the filter feeders im thinking of getting, any info on these will be appreciated

Bought a Long-fin Albino Bristlenose a couple of days ago, seems to have settled in well. Really pretty fish and not one I have seen before. My new stocking is going to be, 5 tiger barbs, 4 panda corydoras, 1 bamboo shrimp and 1 bristlenose. How is this sounding?
