Hey everyone

We purchased our first super delta betta today, its a male really nice dark blue with white outlines on his fins, we're not gonna stress him out today so will take some pics in the next few days.

We've looked into breeding but have a problem. We cant find any female super delta's at all. any diea where we can get 2 - 3 female super delta's?

thank you

Hes been in the tank for a little over 24 hours now, he seems a bit stressed still. how long does it usually take for them to "come out of their shell" so to speak?

Hes still moving around etc, he jsut stays still for alot ot the time resting on the filter or next to the peice of bogwood.

thanks

Well it can take a little bit of time, Im assuming you cycled your filter before he went in? and the current is nice and low? Do you have any plants in there with him?

The tank is cycled, had shrimp and the otto's in it for a while, and yes the tank is planted

Hmm well as long as he's eating ok I wouldnt worry it is normal for them to take a little while to settle and get to know their territory the only other reason for slumping and hiding is when the filter current is too high! So I expect he's just getting used to things

The filter current is at its lowest so that isnt the problem. i just hope he'll start venturing out a bit more soon.

thanks for the advice.

Yeah dont worry your doing everything right maybe give him some fresh bloodworm or brineshrimp as a treat it might perk him up a little but Im sure he'll come out his shell soon :good:

we've got some frozen bloodworms atm, would they be ok for him?

Yes they are fine as long as they are fully defrosted as always - lets hope he gobbles them up! they are good now and then as a treat once weekish.

Well he didnt particularly like the bloodwoorms, he tryed them but then spat them out lol. but ill get his some live daphnia or some brine shrimp tomorow and see what he does.

failing that he will come out the tank he is in atm and put into a tank on his own.

My Ramjet took a good few days before he would come out of his hiding spot. He doesnt like blood worms so i feed him bettas flakes and also i grind up my cichlid food to give to him once a week so he gets all sorts of goodness like shrimp, brine, krill and vitamins he cant get from normal betta flakes.

Just give him time. Im sure he will come out of his shell eventually. Look at it like moving house...sometimes it takes ages to settle into a new home.

nel5on: thats a gorgeous fish in your profile pic. What is it?
