New Stingray And!

Well i just got him hes a motoro teacup my params are 0 ammonia 0, 0 nitrite and 10 nitrate hes in a 220 gallon tank I just brought him home from the store and hes has a red underside.
thanks
mike

Just remember that rays don't produce ammonia, instead they produce a type of ammonium called UREA so ammonia won't register from a ray, it will appear as nitirite after a while.

There is no such thing as a dwarf ray there are smaller speicies but these still need a wide tank of around 30" some people keep retics in a 24" tank but will need to upgrade in years to come. Leopoldi are banned from export but there are people breeding them you wont get any from people in the states as they will keep them over there. As for Germany Micheal H breeds them out there and occansionally brings them over to the UK and charger €850 each for them but this bloke is a joke and has caused another member of this sight alot of problems.

cheers, ive heard about that bloke, my customer tryed dealing with him and apparently he sent henlei instead. they definately weren't leo's. I feel gutted because we did have a couple of leopoldi at work about 2 years ago, and then we sold them just before cites listed them. And they weren'y that dear either!!!!!!
gutted!!!!!!!!

what rays do you keep. I don't have any my self but my girlfreind has 2 laticeps in a 4 ft shes had them about 2 years and they haven't grown even an extra inch yet,but they are fat as hell.

the reason your ray may look red on the underside MAYBE it was being kept on substrate that was to sharp for it and it iratated its under side

on the suject of substrate i noticed that you dont have any

i hate to see rays in bare bottom tanks rays have taken millions of years to evolve to live in substrate you should at least provide them with it

its no harder to keep a tank with substrate clean than it is a bare bottom tank

if you have substrate so for the moan but its just not fair to keep any ray in a bare bottom tank when rays are scared the hide in the substrate
