Not asking for much then lol

Having said that....,one of our spawns last year gave us half and half so you might be lucky!!!

ive been so excited! im setting up the grow out tank already, they are in a 20litre tank atm, but will be moved to a 60 litre when they get bigger

Lol.....I bet you are high maintenance!!!

It's really great to see you up and running with your breeding again and a refreshing change to see nice PKs being used :good:

So once they are in the growout you can start another :hyper:

me ... high maintenance?

ive always used PKs but this one is a right stunner, such a great find for a pet store :p

hahaha i ahve another spare tank, ive been lanning that already  i have a DT girl d like to use also

It's great when you find something out of the ordinary. An lfs near us has a female pk (we think) but is double the size of the others girls and looks black in colour for £1.85.

We've got a few PK lines planned for the next few months including dragon Pks.

So when does the DT spawn start.....I've never comes across anyone who's bred them before. I bet they look cute when their caudals start to develop.

once ive set up the new breeding tank and the male has been re-conditioned (hes my only male). im not big on DTs but ive had a couple of realy prety ones. the girl i have is prety drab but had good fins.

We've never really been into them either but they are good to use if you want to improve the fins in the line you are working on.

What colour is your little DT girl?

I hope you're prepared to take lots of pics....which we will be demanding :p

she is fairly drab, grey and dark red with a bit of purple. yeah the intention is to improve fin quality :)

jus a wee update for anyone who is interested, the fry are now about eight months old and i have 8 survivors, they grew painfuly slowly, and even now are only about 2cm (excluding fins). all the young have turned out as wild type pk, so i may try pairing two of them together to see what i get, if i get any on mum and dads colours, and mabey pair one of the females to dad. the dad is still going strong, he had a touch of finrot recently but seems to have cleared up, unfortunately, the mum died some time ago :(

yeah i know, realy small, they grew so fast initialy, then just seemed to stop. they were fed betta starter and then onto betta pro. normaly they are only on betta starter for about 6 weeks, but they werent big enough to take pro until they were about 5 months old :S ive used starter/pro before and had normal growth, but for whatever reason they just havent grown fast this time around

No live foods? Live foods are in most cases higher in protien than dry foods. That explaines the slow growth imo. :good:

I would love to see some photos :good: dad is just stunning, sorry to hear about mum, I have some young bettas about 6 or 7 months old that are not much bigger! I find if they are seperated from one another and kept in fairly large confines with regular water changes they grow really quick! though this is not always possible, luckily this spawn has given me more females, actually only one appears to be male from 7 survivors he is in a 100L community and is growing very quickly indeed! the girls are all together in a 60L I will get some photos up soon too :D
