well i decided it was high time i got back to breeding and working on my new lines. so first up i decided would be my BO veil and melano pk female. ive spawned from this female before and she did well so i decided id give her another go before she get too old/big to breed from. the VT is bred from a pk male so i hope this pair will produce a fair few pks.. hopefully some BO's
heres a vid of them getting aquainted, i filmed this literaly a few minutes after introducing the female, and you can see her breeding bars already!! she a horny lil girl :hyper:

If any of your fry are black melano females they will be infertile...
which sucks!
i love blacks and would love to breed em!

this is only fact when 100% melano pairs are spawned from F3 generations, with the BO having blue or steel in it means this not to be the case so the females will be fertile

ok update 16th feb:

the girl looked realy keen this morning so i let her in and everything looks good, shed a faster swimmer than him so leads him a merry dance around the tank and then dances with him under his nest. her bars are very strong now!! its all looking good for now. theres been minimal aggression from the male, i guess coz he cant keep up with her so easily. ive left them too it just now, but il peek i on them regularly and try to get pics / video if i can (batteries on the cam are low).

all good for now :good:

what causes the black ones to be infertile?
mother blasted nature likes to remind usthat shes in control, nah its just the infertile gene is increased with every crossing of the same family, to avoid this just simply bring in new blood lines

ok next update (video to follow). the pair have been in together for about 8 hours now and there is some odd behaviour going on. i was watching from afar while watching a dvd and thought i saw them wrap but it was very breif and the female swam off to the other side of the tank, so i figured not. i was watching closer a few minutes ago and sure enough i saw them wrap but it was very breifly, and the femle swam off to the other side of the tank. the male dont seem to be overly enthusiastic and she seem to be trying to get him to chase her, she swims in under the nest bold as brass, strong bars and a strong flare, dances round the male and darts off as if teasing him. also, she is a smidgen larger than him, well mabey longer.. could this effect the males ability to grip her?

the video im uploading at the moment shows this flirty ness, but i didnt catch a wrap. is she just being a flirt or is he just a big wuss?
