Today is the day I finally decided on what I was going to buy with a gift card I have received.
I will be getting tiger shrimp. Been eyeing them for a while now and I think they will make a great addition to my cherry shrimp tank!
Can't wait! :D

Yay! Can't wait to see them :)

ooh, Tiger Shrimps.

I have been wanting to get some for a while, not the cheapest to get, these tigers but some have beautiful colours, which ones you planning to get?

As Ninj already asks, pic would be great!

Tigers are great looking shrimp and if its the same type I am thinking of you can cross them with crystal shrimp and get Tibee shrimp which are very nice as well.

Hi all! As some of you know, I have added tiger shrimp to that tank this Saturday.
Everything was going fine but this morning I woke up to a dead body. I am almost sure it is of a tiger shrimp, and I saw a molt near the carcass. I am feeling a bit guilty as I have been decreasing the temperature of that tank from 26 to 24.5. Right now its at 25c so the temperature decrease shouldn't be much of a problem right?
Think that might be due to stress? Or a combination of everything?
All of my other shrimp are red as can be and are still producing babies...
I will test the water tonight when I'm back from work but I'm pretty sure it still is at 0/0/0 pH is at 7.4 as well...

Here is a picture of one of the shrimp!

Thanks !
Here's a "baby" that I have spotted.
Is that coloration normal for tiger?

And yes, it does look like normal colourations to me for Red Tiger Shrimp.

If in any doubt about your shrimps, have a look at this site, does contain some useful information.

Thanks Charlie..
The issue is.. They are not Red Tiger shrimp! I bought regular tiger shrimp!! :O

Sorry, i thought you meant Red Tiger Shrimps, but find shrimps do come in variations of colours and sometimes look like other species.

But quite honestly I thought that was a Red Tiger Shrimp.

Could be due to fact its very young that they may change colourations as it gets older?

Tbh I have not had any Tiger Shrimps, so probably just me getting it wrong!

I'm not quite sure as well, I'm still new to tiger shrimp! :(
I know they get their stripes and colors once a bit older, but nothing said anything about it being a bit red..
Someone on a local group suggested bacterial infection?

Sorry to add to your confusion, i am not sure either anymore.

Doubt its bacterial infection if shrimp is going about its business and swimming/moving normally.

But in your pic, no.6 post, that does look like a Tiger Shrimp, doe all the other adults look like this or do any have colourations?
Perhaps its just the fact the shrimplets may have these markings naturally and fade out the red when gets older?

Lets hope someone who keeps or has had these Tiger Shrimps may shed more light on this.

No problem! You are trying to help! :)
A few of my tigers have a blue hue to them, some darker, some clearer..
Only time will tell, or maybe someone who keeps them, as you said :p

Have spoken with a CRS, Tiger - Tibee breeder and he confirmed it was a bacteria, I have to isolate the shrimp in case it infects other shrimp.
I will be putting this one in my betta 10g tank, with a breeder net, to make sure he doesn't eat it.
Hopefully it doesnt die.
