Juwel Vision 180 Bow fronted Aquarium

Full marine setup

Complete marine set up including:

2 Regal tangs

1 Shrimp

30kg plus, live rock

25kg gold marine sand

Plus various coral

Glass tank

Beech Cabinet stand with 2 cupboards
Hood and flap set with 2 x twin light unit
Integrated filter system
Heater

Power Head

Glass thermometer

Holds 180 Litres

Aquarium Size 92 x 41 x 55cm

Cabinet size 92 x 41 x 73 cm

We are transporting all of the water with it so i can get it back running at my house.

first thing i'd do is rehome the tangs, the tank really isn't big enough for them I'm afraid.

If that's the stock jewel filter, the second thing i'd do is look at replacing it, they're not great in FW and really not practicle for marine.

stock = came with the tank when it was bought, built into one corner of the tank in a Juwel i believe.

What you replace it with depends largely on what you plan to keep, with this be fish only or corals aswell?

Stock filter is the filter it comes with the tank; that black column in the corner of the tank. Before discussing fish, corals and the like we need more on the setup. What powerheads have you got? Is the internal filter all you going with and 30kg of live rock? What lighting system? Have you thought of starting a refugium with the tank? I would definitely do one but that is my opinion they do wonders with water chemistry and help prevent a lot of problems in the future. Is this your first marine tank? I would certainly suggest reading loads. Reefkeeping.com is brilliant for articles on all manner of things in the marine world.

The bottom line is get your setup in order and don't rush plenty of time to add inhabitants later. Certainly think about what type of tank setup you wish to have: Fish only, fish only with live rock or a reef setup. If it is a reef setup think about what types of corals you wish to keep. SPS require oodles of light and water movement while softies can live in quite low light levels and require variable degrees of water movement.

Hope this helps (Regal tangs are far to big for a tank that size; maybe a single yellow tang) and any other questions just ask

Regards

Holy aiptasia batman... Dunno about the mystery coral/algae/sponge, but you should consider combating those aiptasia before you have a display tank full of them...

How do you get rid off them i thought they were normal.Just read you should inject every one with lemon juice is that right or is there a quicker way? thanks josh.

That is exactly what I thought Ski " My god he has gone for a forest of Aiptasia" It reminded my of the date palms in the Middle East (recently visited Qatar) they line the road for kilometers. Some people try peppermint shrimp but your problem (if you consider it one, I have read some people like them) is much too advanced. You can inject them with (I think) lemon juice or bicarbonate of soda (in solution of course). Ski correct me if I am wrong but I think that is right?? You may have to inject them a few times, try it once and see what happens.

Regards

Bicarb does not work for sure. I'll list in order of effectiveness your options:

Berghia Nudibranchs - (hard to find in UK/Europe)
Remove the rock and use a blowtorch on them
Injection with Joes Juice, AND use of Peppermint Shrimp
Injection with Kalkwasser paste AND use of Peppermint Shrimp
Butterffly Fish - Not suitable for all tanks
Emperor Angelfish - See Above
Peppermint Shrimp only - May not eat the larger ones...
Joes Juice only
Kalkwasser paste only

Those are the common ones. IME, Lemon, and/or Lime juice do NOT work. I've also tried freaking hydrochloric and sulfuric acid injections right into their flesh... Three days later they were back laughing in my face.

If you blow touch them off wont it kill the other living thing on the reef though?
