Ordered our new Seashell 360ltr tank today and I am a bit unsure of which route to take for the filter setup.

I currently have a Aquapet tank, (I think) 180ltrs, I bought a Fluval 205 external filter but realised it wasn`t really man enough so then managed to get a 305 external for next to nothing so have been using that. The 305 works really well on 180ltrs but obviously with another tank that is double the size I don`t really know which option would be best......either run the 205 and the 305 together on the new tank or would one FX5 be a better, more practical option?? I`d like to keep the noise to a minimum as well as having the best option for filtering efficiently.

All advice and info/tips greatly appreciated B-)

If you are going to move the fish from one tank to the next, the filters you already have are cycled for the present fish load. That is always a plus when trying to establish a new tank. Another benefit of multiple filters is having some built in redundancy. If one filter were to fail, you would not be completely without filtration.

Thanks very much OldMan.

I never thought about the possible failing of one so I completely take that on board and agree with you. My first thought was to transfer the media from the current filter/s to an FX5 IF I`d needed to. Everything in my current tank will literally just be moved from one to the other so at least I won`t have to stress the fish with new everything in there.

Thanks again. B-)
