When you say pair, do you mean breeding pair? Or pair as in two? Beautiful fish. I think that you have a guy and a girl.

Thanks. It is a male and a female. Three days after I got them, they dug a hole in the gravel and she layed eggs all evening. But, a few hours into it, he started eating the eggs, and when I got up in the morning, they were no longer guarding the "nest" and the eggs were gone.
Hopefully next time I'll at least get to the fry stage.

perhaps thats why his black spot isn't very apparent. she might have told him off.
