Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you that I went to her store the other day, looking for bristlenose's and because they were out she put me on a waiting list and she will call me next time she has them in. She's really nice and I am glad I went and checked it out, thanks for suggesting that I go there. :D

Heres my resting platies
glad that you like her, and glad you finally got to meet her!

OK Trev, now you got me. I went to my lfs just yesterday to check out the stock. There was quite a few tanks with unhealthy fish in them but I was very upset when I saw as overstocked tank of wonderful platties... They were all resting on the bottom and I thought that they had a real problem with their tank. Even told them to TAKE CARE OF THOSE FISH. Now I see your pictures and it seems that platties rest on the bottom when they are nervous (ie. dad's taking our picture) could it be that the one's in the store just wern't used to big old bug eyed humans staring at them through the glass?

Well I would say that it is very unusual for all of the platies to be resting at the bottom all together. I would think that they weren't healthy and or unbelievablely stressed in one way or another. My platies are usually swimming around like their crazy selfs during the day, and at night they usually rest on the bottom. It's definately not normal for platies to be all at the bottom of the tank at once. I wouldn't buy from that lfs.

OK! Thanks for the info - my problem is location, tight now there are only two places within 360 miles that carry fish... both stores at the moment have some problems - selection is also ugh... Funny thing - the choices are limited and yet they will have like 100 arrowanna for sale (now how many local folks have the setup for one of them)? I just take my time and have the serious quarentine tank going...

that is a good idea........always have a hospital tank going if your selection is scary..........

sometimes I have noticed my female platies resting on the bottom trying to get the guys to leave them the h*ll alone!!! :fun: (if ya know what I mean :hey: )

best pic I have gotten of her

Way to go!!!
