New Pico Finished..... With A Difference

I like the actual concept although hiding the mechanics would make the picture look a whole lot more pleasing on the eye.
But 10 outta 10 for thought.

I'm sure it'd be no problem for him to build a wooden box w/a window. He could conceal what he wanted to and put doors on it for access :)

It's probably all open now to show us how it works!

its actually facinating to watch but im thinking of some sort of modification but with it all on show its quite a talking point considering how small it is, 16" long x 10" wide and 18" tall
im going to paint the back blue over the weekend and take it from there. at least the hermits are having fun in there.

so next up will be a pre filter before the trickle, probably some sponge just above it and a hood with a moonlight in it an auto top up
then the cabinet to plonk it on/in

That's brilliiant! :hyper: I love how you can see everything inside it. Makes me want to try something like it.

An elongated version would make an excelent river tank.

Im shocked! this is really the stuff! honeslty, if i had the brains i would love to do this!.....In fact i might look into DIY tanks :sly: .....No i cant -_- I only just bought a 120l, i cant have anything more
GREAT STUFF THO

Im guessing youre going to run into lots of salt creep in the near future

well its a couple of weeks old now, no salt creep what so ever!
the back and sides have been panted light blue, there is 3kg of live rock in now and waterflow is 400l/hour
there is a prefilter layer of floss at the top of the trickle tower and all 4 hermits have upsized already

next ill be building a cabinet to fit it inside, im going to block off viewing to the trickle at the front as i made a bit of a mess with the silicon there
but the rest will still be in full view. ive fitted a tight perspex lid to the top and that cut down evaporation from 1ltr a day to less than 1/2 pint
the best bit is the water changes. i use some airline to draw of 1.5ltrs and top it back up via the waterfall

when i build the cabinet i intend fully enclosing the whole tank within and have a single lift off lid housing another small 4ltr tank for an auto top up system
that will be gravity fed. i have measured 4.5 ltrs from normal operating height to overflow of the main tank area so if it went wrong the floor would remain dry!

ill take more pictures as im building the cabinet

this has be so much fun ive decided against the big marine tank and im gonna stick with this...................oh and the wife said no more #### tanks
