He's eaten today, he ate some baby shrimp, as well as freeze dried blood worms

You had another topic with the same issue. It's best to keep it all on one page so people can keep track of whats going on.

To fill everyone else in, the tank has been set up for about 2 weeks. Quick start and food has been added over that span and then an oscar was added which has been hiding since. It's a 75 gallon tank.

Hey everyone. I just got a new 3 inch albino oscar. And when I put him in, he was at the bottom of the tank. Anyone knows whats up?

We need ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings to give proper advice. It is extremely possible that this tank has not been cycled fully.

Oscars are very active fish, but also very moody. They are known to sulk when they are upset. This behavior is common to stressed fish as well. Stress can be due to a new environment, a bully, or poor or improper water conditions.

We need exact numbers of your water parameters (current numbers) to give any further advice.

I will get those in today, I have the test kit.

Ok good, that’s very good that he has eaten something.

Keep trying to feed him, but remove any uneaten food so it doesn’t rot.

It is just stress from him being new to his tank. My newest betta didn’t eat for 4 days after I got him.

Hey guys, I wanted to make a update on Gargantuan. He has quit hiding. And is now eating. Still watching him. I will keep him updated as well. I will also be getting the nitrite and nitrate readings asap.

I have a feeling that you jumped the gun a little before tank was cycled. Please get us your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings ASAP. Also get your PH and GH. We can help you if you get us this information. How often do you do water changes and how much? Sounds like ammonia poisoning to me. I have read the ammonia, and it was 0ppm, the nitrate is 0ppm, the nitrite is 0ppm. The ph is 8.4 And the ph is 7.6. If anything, it was probably from the pet store, or he was just really shy, because there were no other Oscars.

How did you acquire these test results? Do you understand how the cycle works? If so, the end result of the cycle is nitrate. This means a cycled tank will always have a nitrate reading (except in rare cases in heavily planted tank) To have zero across the board to me means that the tests are inaccurate.

I find it difficult to believe that the tank is fully cycled after such a short time. You should re test with a liquid test kit. Be sure to follow the directions exactly as instructed on the instructions.

If all are coming back zero, then your tank is not cycled. You should show some nitrates unless the tank is very heavily planted. Are you aware of the Aquarium Nitorgen Cycle? I suggest you read up on it to fully understand and be able to care for your fish. We’re here to help if you have questions.

There are many factors, but it generally takes a month or so if you are starting from complete scratch. This is why testing is important while cycling, so you can monitor the process until it is completed.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, if you do not fully understand how the cycle works it is important to do some research.

And once again, I'd retest.

I redid the test, and it was still the same, he ate his last meal today.
