After shutting down my tank recently due to having black bushy algae on the glass and wrong stock, I've decided to re-start my tank. I have emptied it of all water, but left the gravel and algae in there for future cleaning. Anywho, I'd like to start it up again, properly this time, as last time I was guided by my LFS - and that was a mistake.

If anyone can recommend some low maintenance, tropical fish that will be alright in my 34L tank that would be great.

Here's my tank: http://www.shirleyaquatics.co.uk/aquarium-supplies/lifespace-34-silver-flat-front/jkaa601

Thanks!

Is your water hard or soft?

I'm in Leicestershire, so I think it's hard here.

I do not know a thing about setting up a tank to be honest, as last time I went by advice from my LFS but that didn't turn out so great. So I will have to rely on the forum for guidance.

In that case, I would advise you to start by having a look around and read of the threads in the 'Cycle your Tank' sub forum :)
