New Neon Rainbows

Hey everyone, I got a pair of dwarf neon rainbowfish (or praecox rainbowfish) today, I've had them before but haven't been able to find them since, until today They are so cool I'm so pleased with them and they've been doing great since I put them in the tank

I've got 7 of them myself, and have been waiting for them to turn a dark blue. What color are yours? Mine have a blue shimmer to them, but nothing like the pictures I've seen. They're mostly white/silver and when they turn right they flash some blue due to the light.

Yeah mine are mostly silver and they flash blue as they change their angle to you. They're not very big yet, not much bigger than my neon tetras at the moment but I expect they'll grow. The ones I used to have got to about 3 inches. The male one has orange/red edges to his fins and the female has yellowy edges.

YAY for you. I love rainbows. Iv got 3 parkinsoni, and 2 boesmanni. I was going to get some neon dwarfs, but was worried about my angel(whose a litle devil) eating them so I went with a bigger kind. Ill definately getting some dwarfs for my next tank. Dont worry their colours should really start to come out as the mature.

They look their best in natural sunlight. Unfortunately photo's dont do them justice.

Also mine didnt seem to be too keen on bright light. I had a 15W in my 2ft tank and they spent most of their time hiding. I've now changed it for a 7W and they are much more active.

They seem to be at their most active when the moonlight is on or at the moment when the lights are off and theres a small ammount of sunlight hitting the tank.

Mine are still thriving this morning only there was one thing I noticed when I got them home that I forgot to mention yesterday, the female looks like she only has one eye but there is still an eye there as you can see it moving around and there is no hole. She seems to be doing fine though despite this. However it's a shame I didn't notice it in my LFS when they gave her to me (the LFS where I got them from is an hour's drive away so can't really take her back!), but then it's not like I'm entering them into any shows and as long as she is healthy I like her just the way she is
