Help!. One of my mollies had babies less than two days ago and she is now not doing well at all. I found her this morning in the bottom of the tank standing on her head. The other fish seem to be picking on her because of it so I moved her into a breeding/hospital net. So, now she's in the just standing on her head again. Looking very grim. Any help is appreciated.

Missy sorry to hear that, i am not sure what is going on with her, but after they give birth, they need time to recouperate. I usually try to keep my females seperate from the rest for a few days after delivery, so that she can rebuild herself. It takes alot out of them to give birth, and they need time, as well as good food to get them back to normal.
I am sure someone else will have more info for you. Is she eating? Are there any noticible growths or anything on her?
Sandy

Sorry to hear about your fish...I had the same thing happen to me on of my Mollies had babies and then 2 days later see was dead, she was doing ok after the birth just stressed...Theres really nothing you can do, and I am sorry to say that, but its nature these things happen, I have 34 orphans now :-(

Livebearers can get very stressed when they give birth to loads of fry in one go or having loads of pregnancies.

Just sit and wait and see if she comes round, i would seperate her from the other takemates as they will only bully her causing more stress.

Trying adding a little salt but only if you have no scaleless fish of course that means tetras and catfishies etc.

the poor thing mine done the same thing 2 days after she had babies I spent close to 200 dollars trying to save mine but she didnt make it. I took her to the vet and everything but still no luck. The vet told me that once they start headstanding that it would be real hard to save her after about 2 days of headstanding her body started to curve like a s shape. the maracyn after 3 days made her stop standing on her head. I tried salting her it didnt make much difference. I hope she gets better for you and I sure didnt want to tell all of this but that is exactly what I went threw with mine. I thought mabey she may had a baby in her that she couldnt get out someway but that is just me thinking now. I hope that isnt what is wrong with your molly, let me know if she gets any better I sure hope that she does.

Thanks everyone for your help but she didn't make it. Luckily she didn't have to suffer to long and I still have all her babies. I think she may have had more babies stuck in her because there was something translucent handing out of her I don't know much yet about the actual birth of these babies but it looked to me like it could have been a sac or something. Whatever it was, I'm sure it shouldn't have been there.

sorry to hear that she died but I figured that she would I think that she had a baby left in her that is sure what happened to mine the same exact thing is that the first set of fry mine did that after five sets of babies .
