New member of the family

Okay long store short my brother wanted a exotic pet that wasn't very common. I said he should get a hedgehog. It was suppose it be a joke, but it back fired and now he has a female African Pygme Hedgehog. She dosen't have a name yet, but she is very cute . if anyone here dosn't know what a hedgehog looks like it's noctural and resembles a very cute pin cushion. What I find extremly fuuny is when she rolls into a perfect ball when she dosn't want to be picked up or wants to be put down . When she sleeps she looks like a cactus, and she loves to sleep all day and gets very craby if she is woken up too early so then she makes a sound like a broken lawnmower. Anyway she is really cute and very funny .

I keep frontline on hand.Ferrets are bad for flea also. I have never had the privilage of owning a hedge hog yet...

I love hedgehogs.

During the summer I round up urban hedgehogs when I see them on the roads in the town where I live and relocate them to local nature reserves.

Here's an example.

It seems strange that in America they're considered exotic and some people have never seen one.
They're a common native wildlife species here and about four times the size of those pygmy African critters!

Oh I agree, post piccies! I worked with African hedgehogs when I interned at Miami Metro Zoo. They are sooooo cute, and fun! But, I agree with Bloozoo, really piggy.

In some states in the US it is illegal...

Don't know about Australia though...
